Relationships and other aspects of life would be so different if we learned to create boundaries. Doing so creates a healthy relationship where either party knows what the other will accept and what they won't accept. It also establishes effective communication within the relationship.
It is your responsibility to teach people how to treat you. If you don't teach people what you'll tolerate and what you won't, then there's going to be a problem. There's a consequence to everything in life: if you don't stand up for yourself, then there will be consequences for this.
When dealing with people, whether in relationships, at work, or anywhere, there will always be some problems. When these arise, and you feel that you have not been treated right, it's not your fault. But it's your responsibility to course-correct by clearly communicating your boundaries.
