In this episode of The Fix, Tucker and Travis head to Travis’s house to install matching 2.25" clamshell door trim - but there’s a gap big enough to derail the whole plan. What you’ll learn in this video:• How to prep a door opening when the drywall doesn’t meet the jamb • Trimming shims flush using an oscillating tool • Adding backing blocks so your drywall patch has something solid to grab • Cutting a drywall strip (score & snap) and rasping for a perfect fit • Mud & tape basics to help prevent cracking • Setting your reveal and cutting trim miters without overcomplicating measurements • Using 18ga brad nails (short for the jamb, long to catch studs) • Final steps: fill nail holes, caulk gaps, touch up paint
