How we respond to a brother’s request for help reveals how much we want God’s Answer for us. It is also a reflection of who we believe we are. In our response we find an opportunity to restore our minds and thinking to peace and sanity, His Answer. How can we tell if we are not relying on His Answer that is the Voice of the Holy Spirit, but rather want to hear our own voice that speaks of seemingly good ideas and a betterment of oneself and the world? But once investigated and exposed we learn and recognize that it’s based on ego, generates still fear, and teaches a false reality of past learning.
Many opportunities present themselves in which we can be truly helpful and the question is how can we be sure we are offering the true Answer rather than supporting and reinforcing sickness, pain, and death?
Another question in this respect is: What is truly loving, and what is truly compassionate? The world’s idea of love and compassion is what keeps us and our brothers “in hell”, basically “here” in separation. The ego’s invitation will always be one to agree with its plan, thus what is not true. We always choose between engaging in this way for the sake of normalcy or dare to follow and share something new that does not relate with the past. Jesus teaches us in A Course in Miracles that we can change our mind in regard to this limited thinking, and offers us a new basis of relating with Him inside our Heart and Soul.
