I have a simple equation for how to use desire-based pricing strategies.
Do you find yourself obsessing over the value of your work? Do you research what your competitors are charging? My question to you is, what does that have to do with anything?
The truth is we don’t know the why behind anyone’s pricing, so why would we base decisions on that? Instead, why don’t we base pricing decisions on our own soul?
We all have our own unique paths to determining why we charge what we charge and the structures that we use, if we have a team, etc., but I like to use a simple equation.
The first number would be how much money I want to make per month. The second number would be how many clients I would like to have, and that would determine how much I would charge per client, and I would go from there.
The question then becomes how do I come up with the first number - how much do I want to earn per month? This is where your desire comes in. What is it that you desire? What is the actual thing that is calling your soul, and what is that number?
That desire is calling you for a reason, so base your pricing on that number. Once you know that, it’s important not to focus on how quickly you hit that number. Instead, do the things to bring the people, and you will be there soon enough.
