How to use storytelling when you haven’t sold a bean.

If you’re at the beginning of your biz journey or about to launch a brand-new product or service, I’ll forgive you for thinking just because you haven’t sold anything yet that, you don’t have a story to tell. But you do. There’s always a story to tell.


You’ve got your obvious stories: your founder story, why you do what you do, your brand story. 


But don’t stop there. As I said, storytelling is about communications and - connections. If you don’t have a customer success story yet, make it up. Disclaimer - I am not telling you to lie here. But you can get creative to show the difference you could make to someone, and here’s how. 


  1. Create a fictional customer - the ideal person you would like to work with
  2. Think about the problem they have (that you solve)
  3. Work up a short imaginary scenario where that person is thriving as a result of working with you
  4. Write/tell it in 1st person - like you’re speaking directly to that one ideal customer


    5. Listen to the episode to hear me putting all this into practice.
