How to Write a Good Novel
Mrs Rowland talks about having a video camera on a writerâs head so they can see through their characters eyes and process their other senses. How this is done depends on the point of view the writer chooses for their novel. Mrs. Rowland describes the different types of points of view and which character should have it.
But this book is about much more that just points of view. Itâs a summary of things a writer can do to make their novel better. Many examples are for the romance genre. They include scene definition, using dialog, flashbacks, and character motivation
This book is really about how to write a good novel. It would make an excellent addition to any writerâs collection.
Great Writer's Tool
In all great works of fiction, the author uses point of view to control the reader's experience. What the reader gets to see and know is dependent on how the author uses point of view. In my writing, I have always struggled with which point of view to use and using it consistently. This handbook is perfect for any fiction writer- organized, detailed and easy to understand. I have always enjoyed Kathleen Rowland's romantic suspense novels. Her command of Point of View is certainly part of the reason why.
