As a child we fall down, scrape our knee's and the survival narrative begins to be written and internalised. This slide was too high for me to jump off of.... this narrative has entirely valid roots in our 3 dimensional reality and existence. In adulthood we have to be able to recognise when we are the writers of our own self defeating narratives. They are self defeating because they keep us inactive or unable to take steps out of fear of hurting ourselves.... failing so that no one see's how we've failed.... The longing to achieve your goals comes from a good place, the longing to protect yourself, comes from a good place.
It's not any longer about pressing physical or emotional boundaries or limits as you experienced as a child. That's where we begin. We grow and become individuals with unique talents and proclivities. But we can easily claim "realism" as an out or excuse for why we do not pursue things what our hearts are telling us to. Those same concepts of potential and individual capability that we learned on the playground live through us as adults. Which inner voices are just there to protect you, keep you safe, and which ones are there to tell you "YES" , "GO for it," "TRY", or "YOU CAN"? Can you tell the difference?
