Building tall buildings is nothing new. Some of the tallest buildings are also very old. They don’t seem tall now, but the Egyptian pyramids [埃及的金字塔], Italian towers [義大利高塔], and churches in France, were the tallest when they were built. These very old tall buildings all have something in common [共同點] — they were built with stones [石頭]. The stones are very heavy so this kind of building can’t be much taller than the Italian towers shown in the photograph here. Any taller and the building would crush [壓垮] itself.
