Governments across the world are reviewing information technology
protection strategies as more sensational insights in the latest
WikiLeaks' scandal continue to be revealed. In 2010, the Australian
government released a framework to establish an appropriate security
culture in government agencies, and not before time. A recent study of a
New South Wales' state government information systems initiative that
ran for more than a decade exposes how major departments – often
responsible for highly sensitive information – struggle to keep it under
wraps. Security efforts were found to be under-resourced, poorly
structured and patchy in the rollout. Australian School of Business
researchers say there's plenty of room for improvement.
