1 Samuel 13 is a sobering picture of what happens when we fail to wait on the Lord, and it is one we need to take seriously. Saul, set on obtaining favor with people chose to deny the Lord's command when the Israelite soldiers began to desert him and it cost him everything.
However, the biographers don't leave us there. They contrast his character with that of Jonathan's (his son's) and with David's and it is evident that choosing to wait on the Lord is also an act of obedience that we should take seriously and find delight in.
Waiting is not passive, sis. It is active. Trust God's timing.
