3 Temples:
1: Temple: as a gathering place (V 13-17)
Church (ecclesia): gathering or coming together gladly/freely in God’s name
App: Thinking of how we do worship, how might Jesus want to clean house?
2: Temple: as a Savior (V 18-22)
A. What did Jesus mean, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up”
a. “You are destroying this stone temple”
b. “You will destroy me”
B. What did He mean, “And in three days I will raise it up”?
a. “You will kill me and in 3-days I will rise.”
b. “I replace the stone temple.”
“I tell you that something greater than the temple is here.” Matthew 12:6
“Woman…believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem... …a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. John 4:21-23
3: Temple: You and me (V 23) (ref. John 2:11, John 20:31)
Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. 1Corinthians 6:19-20
