Taiwan’s representative to the United States, Hsiao Bi-khim, has been in the spotlight over the past week.  Hsiao attended US President Joe Biden’s inauguration in Washington on January 20th, making her Taiwan's first envoy to the US to receive a formal invitation to a US inauguration from the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies since 1979.  The foreign ministry says that Hsiao’s attendance on behalf of Taiwan is significant and that it signals the friendly state of ties between the two countries.
