Welcome to Mandarin with Stories. Today, we'll listen to a Christmas story.
Story 1:
我们要开始准备圣诞了。
Wǒmen yào kāishǐ zhǔnbèi Shèngdànle.
We need to start preparing for Christmas.
是啊，我们今天去买圣诞树吧。
Shì a, wǒmen jīntiān qù mǎi Shèngdànshù ba.
Yes, let's go buy a Christmas tree today.
我想去挑一个大大的圣诞树。
Wǒ xiǎng qù tiāo yīgè dàdà de Shèngdànshù.
I want to pick out a big Christmas tree.
我也要，我喜欢有亮闪闪灯饰的树。
Wǒ yě yào, wǒ xǐhuān yǒu liàng shǎnshǎn dēngshì de shù.
I do too, I like trees with sparkling ornaments.
好，那我们一会儿就出发去买吧。
Hǎo, nà wǒmen yīhuìr jiù chūfā qù mǎi ba.
Alright, we’ll head out to buy one soon.
今年我们可以准备个特别一点的圣诞晚餐。
Jīnnián wǒmen kěyǐ zhǔnbèi gè tèbié yīdiǎn de Shèngdàn wǎncān.
This year, we could prepare a more special Christmas dinner.
对，我们可以多做一些好吃的菜。
Duì, wǒmen kěyǐ duō zuò yīxiē hǎochī de cài.
Right, we can prepare some really delicious dishes.
妈妈，我可以帮忙做蛋糕吗？
Māma, wǒ kěyǐ bāngmáng zuò dàngāo ma?
Mom, can I help make the cake?
当然可以，我的小厨师。
Dāngrán kěyǐ, wǒ de xiǎo chúshī.
Of course, my little chef.
礼物呢？你们有什么想要的吗？
Lǐwù ne? Nǐmen yǒu shénme xiǎng yào de ma?
And what about presents? What do you guys want?
我还是喜欢一些游戏的东西，比如新游戏机。
Wǒ háishì xǐhuān yīxiē yóuxì de dōngxī, bǐrú xīn yóuxìjī.
I still like game stuff, like a new gaming console.
我喜欢毛绒玩具，最好是小熊的。
Wǒ xǐhuān máoróng wánjù, zuì hǎo shì xiǎoxióng de.
I like plush toys, preferably in a bear shape.
那我们可以准备这些礼物，给孩子们一个惊喜。
Nà wǒmen kěyǐ zhǔnbèi zhèxiē lǐwù, gěi háizi yī gè jīngxǐ.
Then we could prepare such gifts and surprise the kids.
对，我们也要记得给亲戚们准备一些礼物。
Duì, wǒmen yě yào jìdé gěi qīnqīmen zhǔnbèi yīxiē lǐwù.
Yes, we also need to prepare presents for relatives.
是的，还有圣诞卡片，每年都要写的。
Shì de, háiyǒu Shèngdàn kǎpiàn, měinián dū yào xiě de.
Right, and Christmas cards, we write them every year.
对啊，我还想给我的朋友们做手工饰品。
Duì a, wǒ hái xiǎng gěi wǒ de péngyǒumen zuò shǒugōng shìpǐn.
Yes, I also want to make handmade decorations for my friends.
这么好！大家都会很喜欢你的礼物的。

Alright, let’s get started and split the tasks.
我来负责挂装饰品，和爸爸一起。
Wǒ lái fùzé guà zhuāngshìpǐn, hé bàba yīqǐ.
I’ll be in charge of putting up decorations, with dad.
好主意，我喜欢挂彩灯。
Hǎo zhǔyì, wǒ xǐhuān guà cǎidēng.
Good idea, I enjoy stringing up lights.
那我和女儿就准备晚餐吧。
Nà wǒ hé nǚ'ér jiù zhǔnbèi wǎncān ba.
Then I’ll prepare dinner with our daughter.
嗯嗯，我要准备香香的蛋糕！
Ŭn'ŭn, wǒ yào zhǔnbèi xiāngxiāng de dàngāo!
Yes, and I’ll prepare a fragrant cake!
太好了，这样今年的圣诞会特别温馨。
Tài hǎole, zhèyàng jīnnián de Shèngdàn huì tèbié wēnxīn.
