#008 - When most people think of emotions it is often in a negative way. You've heard the expressions "too emotional", "an emotional wreck", "burying your emotions", "wearing your emotions on their sleeve", or being "emotionless".
Emotions are often thought to work against us but the opposite is actually true.
Emotions are extremely important to us. They are a compass, an indicator of how close we are to being aligned with our true self.
Our true self, the best version of our self, is a happy, light-hearted, optimistic lover of life and lover of self. That is how we were born and it is who we truly are at our core.
And, yes, there are many situations in our lives that cause pain and distress. It is quite easy to become conditioned to respond in a negative way. Often a negative reaction feels justified or we have been taught to ignore it because it is a sign of weakness. But this misdirected and misguided way of dealing with emotion works against us in the long run.
In this interview, mental health therapist, Tayla Hadley, talks about the fact that we ALL have emotions, they are there to inform us of where we are in relation to our optimal self, and are therefore a good thing! She also offers techniques you can do to acknowledge them and soothe yourself into a better feeling place which brings much relief!
Enjoy this podcast and learn how to honor your emotions, manage them, and take control of your own happiness!
