#70 - Although there are many practical things that must be learned and completed in adulthood, personal development and learning how to be your best self is an ongoing refinement that lays a foundation and sets the tone for how you approach everything in your world.
We create habits in life. Everything we do, and how we are, is a habit.
How we walk, our quirks, our posture, what we eat, vices, virtues. They become who we are because we practice these things over and over again.
And one of the most destructive habits that virtually everyone carries to some degree is habitual, negative self-talk.
Most people do not even realize that they are doing it.
It ranges from seemingly harmless statements like, “Ugh, I’m so bad at math” to really detrimental words of self-degradation.
Perhaps this habit goes unnoticed because it’s just words, or maybe you think you will be motivated to change by putting yourself down, or it is what you have heard your whole life so you believe this must be who you are.
My guest today is Cheyne Towers. He is one of the creators of The Dialogue of Self-Liberation (TDSL).
This is a simple yet powerful system to free yourself from the damaging effects of negative, habitual self-talk and leave it in the past.
When you make the connection, that the stories you tell yourself and the thoughts you think about yourself, are at the core of blockages in your life, you can then begin to change your life in a positive and loving way.
Life begins to feel lighter, decisions become easier and you will naturally become kinder towards yourself and, therefore, others.
TDSL is a life skill!
I am so excited about this topic and I hope that after hearing this interview with Cheyne Towers you will be inspired to think and speak differently to the person that matters most: YOU.
