#85 - Today we are talking about transforming education, and how Open Source Learning is an evolving philosophy in meeting the needs of learners in the 21st Century.
I am speaking with Dr. David Preston, educator, consultant, and trailblazer in reforming education and changing the way students learn.
The traditional way we are taught in school was thrown into turmoil when the pandemic hit.
Trying to teach over the internet was a little chaotic at first, there was a little resistance, but most everyone adapted; teachers, students, administrators, parents. We all had to figure it out, and quickly at that. And, overall, it worked.
This came as a surprise to many, but not to Dr. Preston. He has been using the public internet to engage and empower students since 2006.
Dr. Preston calls it Open Source Learning and his years of success in teaching this way are starting to gain notice.
The pandemic proved to many others that this is a viable option to traditional brick and mortar schooling, and may very well be the model for digital transformation in education.
It is a fascinating concept and honestly a breath of fresh air when it comes to discussing education for the 21 century.
