The whereabouts of the former Canadian diplomat remain unknown. According to his current employer International Crisis Group, Michael Kovrig was detained in China and it’s unclear exactly where he is. Charles Burton has no doubt Kovrig’s detention is payback for Canada arresting Huaweu’s CFO in Vancouver and there’s a possibility Kovrig could be tortured during interrogation.  Brock Univesity Professor & Two time former Canadian diplomat Charles Burton thinks the two events are related.
