He then earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Akron. Garrett currently works in the IT area at PNC Bank in Pittsburgh, PA. In this episode of Hudson Monte-Stories, Matt Virgil takes a break from the HMS Unmatched! series to share a conversation that he and Ms. Michelle had with Nayan Shah earlier this fall. Nayan is a graduate of Hudson Montessori School (Class of 2007). He went to high school at Western Reserve Academy and is finishing up medical school at The Ohio State University. In addition to getting married this year, Nayan will be moving to Milwaukee where he will be starting a urology residency at The University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. Enjoy this conversation with Nayan!

Huck is one of HMS’s two lead Upper Elementary teachers. Huck and Matt continue to talk about how the Upper Elementary program helps developing children answer the important question: Who am I? Matt Virgil, Head of School at Hudson Montessori School, continues his series HMS Unmatched! In this episode of Hudson Monte-Stories through a discussion about Lower Elementary (Grades 1-3) with Abigail Wexler. Abigail is the Director of Teaching and Learning at HMS and, prior to that role, taught Lower Elementary for many years. Matt and Abigail speak about the philosophical basis for our Lower Elementary program centering around how the program helps children answer a hugely important question: Who am I? They also discuss that, through this unique and powerful approach to elementary education, children love to learn and engage material and master skills at or above peers at other traditional schools.
HMS Unmatched! On this week’s Hudson Monte-Stories, Head of School Matt Virgil begins a series called HMS Unmatched! Over the next several podcasts, Matt will speak with teachers and administrators at HMS about what makes HMS an unmatched school. In this episode, Matt talks to Mary Blatnik and Rachel Loomis, two Children’s House (ages 3-6) teachers at HMS about the power of the HMS Kindergarten year. Mary and Rachel share the academic, social and emotional growth that occurs in children during their Kindergarten year…it’s a year that is a culmination of our unmatched preschool program and one that is not to be missed!
In this episode of Hudson Monte-Stories, we have a conversation with Max Rosenwasser. Max is a high school teacher in Los Angeles. He came to this school through a Teach for America placement. In addition to graduating from HMS, Max is a graduate of Brown University and Western Reserve Academy. We talk about Max’s path to teaching and delve into his views on working with traditionally educationally underserved populations. Max also speaks about the realities of living in Cali!
