Human Rights Day: The Equality Court

This year, Human Rights Day is commemorated under the theme: “Consolidating and Sustaining Human Rights Culture into the Future”. One of the ways to sustain human rights culture is ensuring the platforms to protect human rights are readily accessible to the public and can uphold the principle of Equal before the Law as society evolves. In this hour, we speak to one of the pillars of human rights in the South African Constitution: Equality. More specifically, we unpack the purpose of the Equality Court in protecting the our human rights and why this court is being underutilized as a site of legal recourse. Why is it not visible to the public?
