Humane Nation

In this episode we talk about incredible keystone species. First we discuss what keystone species are, then we mention some examples of keystone species and finally threats that some keystone species are facing. It's pretty amazing how just ONE species can have a huge impact on an ecosystem.

It's strange to talk about since we've been constantly talking about the shelter crises happening now and being in kitten season, but are you sure you're ready to adopt? In this episode we talk about several things to consider BEFORE you make that lifelong decision. What's best for not only you, but the animal?

In today's news section we talked about the man in Yellowstone that touched the young bison. Yellowstone park rangers are encouraging people who know more information about this man to call their tip line.

Hey friends! We're back with another episode. Does it feel like deja vu? Our very first episode on the Humane Nation was about Kitten Season. It's an important topic and we wanted to refresh everyone of why kitten season is a serious fur-nomenon. We talk about how this impacts local shelters and rescues and ways YOU can help!

Hey friends, I'm back from Japan! In this episode we'll talk about Japan's deer situation. Seeing wild deer living without fear of humans in populated areas was unusual, but as I mention through the episode it was "such a neat experience". We'll talk briefly about why there are so many deer and also the concerns the Japanese government has because the increasing deer population.

Easter is coming up quick! For hundreds (if not thousands) of animals, that means they'll be given as Easter gifts. Sadly, many are abandoned after Easter because people aren't aware of the work they require. In this episode we talk about just SOME of the things you should know before you give a baby chick, duckling, or bunny as an Easter gift. Remember, they are living individuals- not toys.

Opt for a cute, soft plushie instead! Like the ones at Bunnies By The Bay.

In this short episode, we talk all about debarking. Debarking or bark softening is a procedure that lessens the sound of a dogs bark. It's hard to believe, but yes, it is a real thing! We talk about what this procedure is, why people have it done to their dog, and why it's more harmful than beneficial.

In this episode we talk all about declawing cats. Although it's gaining in awareness, some people still might not understand that the procedure is actually inhumane and can cause MANY other issues. We'll also talk about a few ways to help your cats stop scratching objects like couches and curtains!
Cats are awesome- claws and all!
