What does the Bible really say about pride, and how can pride quietly destroy our relationship with God and the people we love most? In this Bible study, we take a deeper look at the sin of pride—a heart problem that can produce arrogance, selfishness, stubbornness, anger, contention, unforgiveness, and spiritual independence from God. Proverbs 15:25 gives us a sobering warning: "The LORD will destroy the house of the proud." This powerful statement should cause every Christian to stop and examine his or her heart. Pride can place our ego on the throne, damage marriages and families, and prevent us from saying, "I was wrong. Please forgive me." But there is hope. God gives grace to the humble. We will examine biblical characteristics of pride and consider practical ways to fight pride in our daily lives: 🙏 Regularly examine our hearts 🙌 Give God the glory for our abilities and accomplishments 🕊️ Practice humility and dependence upon God ✝️ Make Jesus Christ our example of humility John 15:5 reminds us: "...without me ye can do nothing." The battle against pride is ultimately a battle over who sits on the throne of our hearts. Pride exalts self, but humility exalts Christ. As we yield ourselves to God, His grace works within us, giving us both the desire and the ability to do His will. 💧 God's grace flows to the low places. Let us humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God and allow His grace to transform our hearts, our marriages, our families, and our service for Christ.
