How do we maintain good hygiene? One way is to have confidence in our bowel and bladder routine. This is one of the most difficult, if not the most difficult things to figure out for people living with spinal cord injuries. If we can tame the beast that is our bowel and bladder, we will be able to move on and fully participate in life without reservation. Some simple tips and encouragement regarding this area of hygiene and health. Be mindful of your hydration, what you are eating and your activity level. Pay attention to the indicators your body gives and find out what they mean.
One quick tip that given me confidence in my bowel program is the Squatty Potty. I wish someone had told me about this at the beginning of my injury. If you do not already have one of these, I would recommend you get one today!
