Pewside Perspective

Hymn 16 She Works Hard for the Money

Listen Later

A lot of current events came out recently, but on this Pewside Perspective we look at the election of the new Pope, Leo XIV, briefly, and then take a look at his most recent namesake, Leo XIII, and his view of work.

Coach talks about how the Catholic view of social justice, especially in Leo XIII's view does not correlate with the current progressive view. Leo's criticism of communism, socialism, and capitalism are shared and the reasoning why capitalism is better.

Side stories include the wonderful story of the Nokona Baseball

Glove Company and Coach's meeting with Donna Summer.

Coach also shares ideas from Max Weber's Protestant Work Ethic and how economic systems that deprive the value of humans being created in the image of God will always lead to abuse and the loss of human dignity.
