Learning to Hear God’s Voice
I Am a Sheep
July 7, 2019
Please turn in your Bibles to John 10
“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” John 10:27
Focus: Hearing God isn’t so much something we do as it’s someone we are
“Very truly I tell you Pharisees, anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. 2 The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for Him, and the sheep listen to His voice. He calls His own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When He has brought out all His own, He goes on ahead of them, and His sheep follow Him because they know His voice. John 10:1-4
“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.” John 10:11
“I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.” John 10:16
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. John 10:27
Hearing God’s Voice
1: It’s Built In: we are born with the capacity to communicate with God
“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” John 10:27
2: It’s Picked Up: as we become aware of it, we learn it
Challenge: Take some time to be still in God’s presence
3: It’s Worked Out: It’s developed with use
Immature Thoughts on Hearing God
A message a minute: Hearing God is more about relationship than instruction
Point and hope: We need Him, not gimmicks
Que Sera Sera: Your choosing something doesn’t make it God’s will
