A graduate from the University Of Nebraska in Food science, Yousuf Bashir Qureshi opened up a cafe' in Nebraska called the 'Silk Cafe' back in the 90s'. From painting windows to walls to TV sets, YBQ has also designed clothing for celebrities such as Sheryl Crow, Angelina Jolie, Denzel Washington, and Madonna.
Fabric, colors, weaves always resonated with YBQ , even as a child. From putting flowers together in his younger years at a cadet college to zipping coffee for his clients in his cafe, to now where he runs his fashion own label by the name of YBQ designs, he has seen much of ebbs and flows, much of discouragement and much of uncertainity. However, YBQ has always been a fighter, standing tall to all challenges that life threw at him, father of 4 children he now resides in Karachi, Pakistan. YBQ is a public speaker, and hold sessions around the world, talking to the youth, encouraging them, supporting them and motivating them all at the same time.
This podcast was held at the 'Commune' - a space that YBQ holds not just for his own work but also for anyone who has an inner expression to share. The Commune - a space of balance, equality and tolerance -
YBQ shares with us his love for color and fabric, many instances that he and his family met with disaster, his efforts to maintain sanity internal and external and how he moved back to Pakistan, because his best friend wished so. He also shares with his love for poetry, for Bulleh Shah, the importance of self love and his route to spirituality
