Last week we saw that religious leaders of Jesus' day had positioned themselves as “gatekeepers” of access to God.
So, Jesus said, “I am the Gate (door).”
Now Jesus switches metaphors, doubles down, andsays, “I am the good shepherd.” This was undoubtedly an even more recognizable image to his hearers.
And it says more about Jesus as shepherd thanabout us as sheep.
