TRIGGER WARNING This episode includes talk about sexual assault; listener discretion is advised. Please call Lifeline on 13 11 14 if you need help.

Today on the Pod, I chat with one of my dearest friends, Peter Woodward. Pete, or Aunty Pete as he is called by everyone, shares his story of growing up gay in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s.

Pete, very bravely, shares his experiences of growing up in a time when there was horrendous bigotry towards gay people.

His story is one of heartbreak and fear, but also of love, forgiveness, resilience, friendships, and laughter.

I am in awe of Pete and his strength of character. He is a loving and generous friend. With what he has been through in his life, Pete could have become bitter, cynical and broken (and I would completely understand why), However, Pete has chosen to live his life filled with love, laughter, and generosity.

Thanks Aunty Pete for sharing your story.
