Hi, my name is Jane, and I would like to tell you a story.

I was just an average girl who enjoyed her morning walks, coffee and spending an unnecessary amount of time on the internet looking up pictures of cute dogs. 

If I could, I would have bought them all, but my boyfriend was allergic, at least that’s what he said. I’ve always suspected that he was secretly afraid of dogs. Either that or he hated them. I’m not sure which.

I and Marcus had dated since we turned 19, we were 20 now and our relationship was serious. So serious that we had made plans for our wedding already. 

The highlight of our relationship was staying up late every night to watch my favorite series. Marcus always complained that the series was boring and predictable but he watched them anyway.

One day, while we were lounging around his house, he casually said to me, “Jane, we need to talk.”

As soon as he said that, I could sense that something I didn’t like was coming. He almost never called me by my name. He always referred to me as “Queen” or “Angel”. 

“I’m all ears dear, what do you wanna talk about?” I answered.

“I don’t think this is working out. I need to break up with you.”

Those dreaded words hit me like a hurricane, and before I knew it, or could even control myself, I burst out crying. And this was an ugly cry, complete with snot bubbles and unintelligible words.
