Jacob is fleeing for his life. Fear of his brother, Esau, takes him to this desolate place, where he finds that God is there, and that God has a word for him. God lets Jacob know that He is with him, He's for him, and He will continue to fulfill the promise that He made to Abraham and Isaac, through Jacob. God tells Jacob, and He's telling us as well... "I've got you."
