I have been told many many things as a young business owner. Anything from, “you’re too pretty to be taken seriously,” to “you don’t have to try so hard,” to “one day you’ll get it.” . Those messages give me the ick. The truth is, it doesn’t matter if you’re 17, 25, or 45, if you are ready to be taken seriously for the mature individual that you are, here’s how: 1️⃣ Dress the part. To be taken seriously, it’s time to start looking into some business casual attire. Think blazers, non-revealing dresses, & maybe some lip liner 🫦. I’ve found some STEALS at @nordstrom , @nordstromrack , @target . There’s no need to make 100% of your outfits all of the time hoody shorts & revealing tops. . 2️⃣ Practice your communication. Try to get rid of your “ums” and your “like’s” wanna know the truth? The reason we use these words are because we are uncomfortable with silence or a break in the convo. Try this: when you feel yourself saying a filler word, pause, take a deep breath, practice relaxing eye contact, and continue. It’s a game changer. . 3️⃣ Go to networking events. Find your crowd, there are people out there who believe in you. Find THEM. The rest who have anything to say about your age are just insecure because they weren’t as mature as you when they were your age. . Haters gonna hate, potatoes gonna potate🥔 . What’s your best tip to be taken seriously as a young woman/man? Drop your comment📝 . #adulting #adulting101 #getrespect #ettiquettetips #businesscasualoutfits #demandrespect
