MY FATHER'S HOUSE. This phrase refers to heaven, for Jesus must "go" there to prepare a place for us (Mat. 6:9). God has a home where there are many rooms and to which the "household of God" now on earth (Eph. 2:19) will be transferred; "here we have no continuing city" (Heb. 13:14).

As certain as Christ went to heaven, He shall return from His Father's presence and take His followers to be with Him in heaven, to the place prepared for them. This is the hope of all believers. The ultimate purpose of the LORD's return is that believers may forever be with Him.
