In this episode of Can’t Find My Way Home, I was joined by Peter Martin, the brains behind the Ninja News Japan podcast.
Born in Ireland, raised in Canada, and having lived in Japan more than anywhere else up to this point, Peter has a wealth of experience, both as an expat and as a podcaster.
During our conversation we get into Peter's expat journey, competing in Judo all over the world (and until he turned 40), how do humans function in extreme heat and humidity, and why 'moist' is the most hated word in the English language.
Peter actually runs several podcasts, the biggest of which is Ninja News Japan. I really enjoy Peter's monologue's, his delivery, and that slightly sideways look at news stories in his adopted home. Peter's concept is to find stories from Japan that are relevant and culturally interesting to anyone living in Japan - and those who aren't.
We chat about the attention span of readers and listeners, how we consume our media, and are we the victims of a changing world? And the 'other' meaning of 'Christmas Cake'. You might be surprised!
In the Top 5, there's the joyful nature of Panjabi MC, House of Pain, Karaoke buildings, The Reply All Show podcast, and visiting S and M Bondage shows in Nagoya.
