Om Prakash, a 68-year-old retired Indian Police Service officer and former Karnataka Director General of Police, was brutally murdered on April 20, 2025, at his residence in HSR Layout, Bengaluru. The shocking case made national headlines as Om Prakash was stabbed multiple times after reportedly being attacked with chilli powder to his eyes. His wife, Pallavi, has been accused of carrying out the murder, allegedly motivated by property disputes and long-standing domestic conflict.

According to police reports, Pallavi called the emergency helpline after the killing and confessed to the crime, telling officers, “I have killed the monster.” Investigators say she used kitchen knives, a glass bottle, and other household items to stab him repeatedly. Their daughter, Kriti, was also present at the home during the incident and has been sent for mental health evaluation while being questioned as a witness.

The murder of such a high-ranking retired police officer has shaken Karnataka and raised questions about mental health, family conflicts, and property feuds. The Central Crime Branch of Bengaluru Police has taken over the case, and Pallavi has been remanded to judicial custody as forensic and psychological reports are awaited.
