There was a social media trend where people shared “My name is X but they call me…” and then proceeded to list all the many nicknames they have. Many of us have childhood nicknames, names given to us by friends or coworkers, and names of affection from those closest to us. We also all have names or labels that we have been called or that we still carry around and call ourselves. When it comes to what names or labels we believe about ourselves, we can choose the names of affection and value over the ones that minimize our value.
