"I Missed the Deadline" is a poem that I did literally begging the cops to stop killing us. It details my experience with having the police called to my hotel room on 9/12/2021. It was one of the most horrific events of my life and I channeled the experience through poetry.
I didn't have much words other than these spoken words. The experience was painful and antagonizing, and I never want to live through it again. I can still feel the tears and the panic attack that I had in their presence. I never thought that I would have to thank a cop for not killing me, but I beat the charge and walked away and finished my poem for @girltalk.me poetry slam contest. Listen now! This day was HARD. I chose my hard.
I walked away from police, laid on the sidewalk and prayed and cried. I fasted my way out, and thank God I am still alive today.
