I was married to my beautiful wife and three kids, but they lived in the next town due to my wife's work and position. As a result, I hardly got to see them. Over time, I took in a younger woman as my secret girlfriend, whom I'd send to the market to get me food and warm my bed every night. However, my wife soon discovered this and divorced me, leaving me heartbroken. With no other option, I later married the younger woman, fearing loneliness. We've been married for 15 years now, but she's been unable to conceive despite IVF attempts, for which I spent ₵30,000. We eventually adopted her niece as our own. The adopted girl has since graduated from university and is doing well financially, but she doesn't support me financially now that I'm old and need care. My younger wife, still youthful, has also lost interest in me and moved to Accra to stay with her family, leaving me alone. I deeply regret leaving my first family for her.- A 68-year-old man shares his story.
