For a guy in his late teens, I had a pretty boring life. I was the kind of loner kid who got bullied in school a lot. That meant I had very few friends and having a girlfriend was just wishful thinking.

I worked at a fast-food drive-thru 4 days a week and the rest of the weekend days I worked at the shipyard. I liked keeping myself busy like that as work was my only escape from boredom. My coworkers often asked me, “Why do you work even on the weekends?”

“What else would I do?” was my answer every other time.
