Another banger if I do say so myself. Katie is officially temporarily unemployed and tackling important projects like cleaning out the storage closet. We get curious about how AI is impacting personal communication and get an interesting perspective from a listener. And we address two of our own personal mental blocks. Katie can't always accomplish basic tasks and Kati can't figure out how to get comfortable building a personal business on social media.
Kati's mom, Jan Hultman, passed away peacefully on October 6. Jan's death came slowly then all at once. Pull up a chair and listen to Kati and her sister, Kriss, share stories about their loving, sassy, complex, resilient mother. Stay to the end... it's worth it. 🩷

Here, there and everywhere today folks. Feeling safe at home alone, taking 40,000 steps in a day, reading each other's minds. What's the difference between overthinking things from the past vs things in progress or in the future? Where does discipline and agency end and being controlling begin? And should public restrooms have time limits? Chime in!
Ok ladies and gents we keep it light today. Katie talks about her trip to Las Vegas (a cruise ship on land), shows at the Sphere (exquisite), and how she might like being home a little too much. Kati shares she was a late bloomer on travel, taking her first flight ever her senior year of college (straight to Spain, no less). We reflect on the Emmy results, wonder aloud why Beef wasn't as good as it could have been, and question whether Widow's Bay can survive multiple seasons. Possible future topics, Aaron Sorkin, current TV shows, and celebrity crushes. Hoo boy. Enjoy.
Ok on the real real real, this one gets a little dicey. Different experiences meet different perspectives meet different sensitivities..... all toward an honest and personal discussion. We hit on some (funny) reminders of Kati and Katie's 10-year age gap and then dive DEEP into differing perspectives on work, management, employee/employer expectations, and more. What's the difference between for profit and nonprofit work? What incentivizes good work in each setting? Is the business model for education working? Who decides what a fair salary for a particular job is? There's a lot here...strap in.
Today calls for musings on guest bathroom etiquette, Enneagram centers of intelligence and how to identify your type. What's your relation to anger? Shame? Fear? We reflect a lot on All Her Fault and a little on Love Story (two Emmy-nominated limited series). We close out with a discussion on hope vs. optimism, toxic positivity, and gratitude. Enjoy.
Episode 30 oh my! Where has the time gone? Today we're talkin' bad haircuts, Dolly Parton, LinkedIn behavior (as I type this I realize how much more I want to say about LinkedIn so we'll keep this in the back pocket), Steve Zahn and the end of the movie star era. Anchoring today's episode is a big discussion on confidence. Where does it come from? How do you build it? Does it increase or decrease with age? Stay with us because I promise we land the plane on this one even if it gets murky in the middle.
Moderna's cancer vaccine, nostalgia for 90s establishments, iPhone marketing meetings, changes in professional standards by generation, Fort Wayne's low barrier resource center, hating your wardrobe, and our current media consumption like Funny AF, Lucas Zelnick, Beef Season 2, All Her Fault, Task, and Elizabeth Smart's Survivor Files. Enjoy!
Strap in for today's journey. We talk brain misfirings, the awkwardness of having a body, Kati's group exercise class crisis, childhood crushes, Katie realizing she's not a good listener, listening to audiobooks on Spotify, the new Anthony Bourdain biopic. We discuss the desire for revenge and disagree about road rage..... enjoy.
This conversation may have been a personal fave for one of us.... hopefully it translates to your favorite episode. Today we're talkin' flooding in Indiana, our own personal EGOTs, what defines "hobby" and whether or not exercise is one. Has social media taught us that we're entitled to an opinion on everything? How far should that opinion travel before it does harm? We discuss the Lindsay Clancy trial but not in the way you're expecting. Let us know your thoughts (if you dare). Oh and there's a treat at the end so stick around.
