Learning to Hear God’s Voice
I Value His Voice
July 21, 2019
Please turn to 1 Samuel 3:1, Exodus 19:10-11
“The boy Samuel ministered before the LORD under Eli. In those days the word of the LORD was rare; there were not many visions.” 1 Samuel 3:1
Question: What kind of value do you put on hearing from God?
Practical Ways to Hear His Voice
1. Set an appointment (ref. Exodus 19:10-11, 19)
App: Determine a time and place
2. Be still and worship
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God…” Psalm 46:10a
(also see: Exodus 14:13a, 2 Chronicles 20:17, 21-24)
3. Pray and read (ref. Luke 5:16)
I rise before dawn and cry for help; I have put my hope in
your Word. Psalm 119:147
What should you pray? Whatever is on your heart
Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you. 1 Peter 5:7 NLT
Where should you read?
4. Listen and write
My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for
the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer. Psalms 45:1
(Also see: 2 Chronicles 28:19, Habakkuk 2:2)
