Unapologetically Catholic

I Was Protestant and Didn't Understand Catholic Salvation...Until This

Listen Later

I was a Protestant who was trying to understand the Catholic view of salvation, but it never really made sense. Why were good works needed? Why was purgatory necessary if Jesus said on the cross "it is finished"? Why did Catholics say they HAD to participate in the sacraments if they hoped to be saved? None of it made sense until I realized I was starting with the presupposition that salvation was a declaration not a transformation. Once I understood that, everything started to click. I lay out the Protestant and Catholic view of salvation and show how scripture points to salvation being a process of transformation not a one time declaration.Learn more and join the community here: https://www.skool.com/unapologetically-catholic-6148/about?ref=85383f70cd48474d9118a1f4c270afd5Council of Trent Decrees on Justification: https://www.papalencyclicals.net/councils/trent/sixth-session.htmJimmy Akin's "The Drama of Salvation" was VERY helpful for me in understanding this.
