“I can’t breath.” These words continue to ring in my head as our community continue to witness the countless murders of our black men and women. The murder of George Floyd set off a series of protests, riots, and looting across the nation. My heart hurts and I’m scared. How do I explain what’s going on in the world to my kids? How do I prepare my black children to enter a world who have little regards about their lives.
In this week’s episode of Moms and Martinis, I’m joined at the kitchen table with Mista Calhoun of Digital Daron, as he recants his accounts of being at the center of the Atlanta Riots, which he calls “Atlanta’s pursuit of justice.”He shares his unpopular opinion about Donald Trump, Barack Obama, civil rights leaders, Keisha Lance Bottoms, John Lewis and celebrities like Killer Mike and T. I. Calhoun also shares how his experience showed him the importance of being able to coexist as we fight against the systematic oppression of our government.
