GRIT: is the STRENGTH to GET UP one more time than you get
KNOCKED down.
This year, with God’s help and the power of the Holy Spirit, I will develop GODLY GRIT. Most people give up when life gets HARD. I’m NOT most people. If I COMMIT, I won’t QUIT.
James 1:2–4 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
THREE PRINCIPLES FOR DEVELOPING GRIT
1. Set your MINDSET.
EVERYTHING worthwhile in life is UPHILL.
John 16:33 I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.
2. Surround yourself with the NO-QUIT TEAM.
Hebrews 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,
Exodus 17:12 When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset.
Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
Romans 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
Genesis 50:20 You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.
3. Run for something BIGGER than YOU.
Acts 20:24 However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to
finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of
testifying to the good news of God’s grace.
2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
If you’re living for something this WORLD CAN GIVE you, you are not living the ASSIGNMENT GOD has for you.
Romans 8:11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.
