An explanation of why our refugee quota won't be going up right away.
New Zealand will take 1500 a year from July 2020, an annual increase of 500.
Immigration Minister Iain Lees-Galloway told Mike Hosking two additional accommodation blocks need to be built at the resettlement centre at Mangere, which refugees go through when they first arrive in the country.
"The government's also going to bring five or six new locations online for people to go to around the country, that means the load can be spread around a bit more evenly."
