Well this week is a busy old week, lots to get done and places to be. Actually as soon as this week show was finished it was time to get ready for heading over to Leicester for this weekends HRH Sleaze. A jam packed tune fest of a show for you to enjoy this week. It all started off this week with a bit of Chris Rea and a nice sunny song called “Auberge” and after that it just kicked on and went from strength to strength. We even had time to mention the fact that this week Gene Simmons turned 76 years old.

During the show I mentioned about a T.V show that my wife had been watching which featured a guest appearance by Sebastian Bach and that just led us off down a route about Skid Row, Sebastian’s solo career which brought us onto Rob De Luca and Spread Eagle and UFO. Spread eagle will be playing at HRH sleaze in September as part of their 35th Anniversary tour which means it will be a great chance to catch up with them again.

What a great Thursday morning O.N.B.B. show it was this morning. Kicked proceedings off with a bit of MeMe Detroit and “Mean Rock N Roller” which is a great track, if you haven’t listen to them before you should go and search them out and if you can find it, check out their version of the David Bowie classic “Ashes to Ashes” well worth a listen. Though the Joan Jett track was spur of the moment because of something that I played from Cassidy Paris. Oh and before I forget there was interesting news from Hard Rock Hell Radio HQ, Andy Sayers who is usually on air on Wednesday at 10am has volunteered himself and others to start a once a month 2 hour Prog show, This was discussed during todays show and details of when and who will be providing this service were mentioned. The first of the Exclusives came from Irish Alt Rockers BlockC. Their new album “Stranger To Myself” Will be released on 15th August 2025. The lead single from the album was very kindly sent to me by the band, so I had great pleasure it playing that on the show for the first time. The 2nd of our exclusives came from nearer to home, this time from Bristol Rockers Buried In Bermuda, this was actually quite spooky, because I was playing a track from Buried in Bermuda and my messenger service pinged and it was a message from Gilles Macey from the band and the message read, Hi Ian we have a new single coming out on 21st August 25, do you thing you might play it on your show. I couldn’t resist the temptation so I just downloaded it and played it straight out without listening to it first, ( to check it for any expletives or stuff along those lines). Well what can I say it is a brilliant track. It’s very different to what you normally get from Buried In Bermuda as it’s a ballad/sad song but WOW it was well worth taking the chance. It must have been a subconscious thing at play during the show for today, as we also featured another artist who I was lucky enough to see at a HRH event at Great Yarmouth. The New track from Wednesday 13 from the Mid Death Crisis album is worth checking out. I remember seeing the gig from the side of the stage at Great Yarmouth in November and what a performance it was. The video for the new track is aimed at putting fun back into Funerals according to Wednesday 13. Brummie Rockers Quartz opened up the show today with a track from their aptly named Sixth Studio album SIX. https://www.facebook.com/QuartzBackintheBand For those of you that don’t know, Quartz have been around since 1977, when they changed their name from Bandy Legs to Quartz. Their debut album Was produced by Tony Iommi and Geoff Nicholls was a member of Quartz before joining Black Sabbath in 1979.

At the same gig on Friday I discovered a band from Cheltenham ( I believe that they are from Cheltenham) that I had Not caught before and was thoroughly blown away by. Actually if you are in the Swindon area then keep an eye out as The Swindon Shuffle is back from 10th September 25 and there’s a chance to catch a vast array of bands around the Swindon area. An Artist that is a blend of styles and genres that you might not imagine at first glance but boy does she deliver. The music came at you thick and fast on this mornings show. It kicked off with a track from the excellent “Chapter and Verse” E.P. from Deadlight Dance. The E.P itself is inspired by books that have had an influence on both Nick and Tim and there are some interesting thoughts behind the tracks on the E.P. , definitely worth checking out when you get the chance.

As well as Deadlight dance we had the latest offering from a band who ,if like me you hadn’t realised have been around for 30 years now. yes i couldn’t get my head round it, but it’s true the Foo Fighter made their first public appearance back in February 1995. The latest single pays homage to that as well as honouring past members who are sadly no longer with us.

This week’s Tee shirt choice is a mash up of my love for Kiss and the fact that some clever person made a kiss album tee shit but with the team colours of my favourite football team.

This also led on to a chat about how I have been known to dress as members of the band Kiss and actually go not just to parties dressed up but even trundle along to the local pub dressed up as gene Simmons. and just to prove the point here is the photo.

Now if you tune in on a regular basis you will know that I have a love of musicals and quite often reference Andrew Lloyd Webber’s work, especially his work with Ian Gillan, and this week was no exception as it was a great way to lead into the latest offering from the stage production work of Shot Full of Rock. Yes I know it wasn’t a Gillan fronted Deep Purple track that got played but that wasn’t the point.
