Family Separation at the border with Mexico
In this episode, Mayra and I, share about the tragic reality at the border between Mexico and the USA. Family Separation at the border with Mexico under Trump's orders and his zero-tolerance policy.
Zero-Tolerance Policy:
This policy stipulates that if patrol officers capture any individuals crossing the border with Mexico, detention and prosecution will be the consequences. It includes those who are seeking asylum.
If these individuals are attempting to cross the border with minors (children), they'll be subject to separation. The government separates children from their parents and places them under their care.
Furthermore, children separated from their parents or companions oscillate to more than 1500. These children are housed in what were "... Wal-Mart, ..." stores; caged as if they are "animals."
The current government and the Republican Party are excusing their actions; it seems like they're pretending to be saviors and heroes who seek to restrain human trafficking.
Definitions to remember:
Here, we want to give you some facts about the consequences of separating children from their parents which is happening at the border with Mexico.
"Definition of Child Neglect: Child neglect is when a child is subject to live under conditions or circumstances that are detrimental or injurious to his or her well-being."
"Attachment Theory: This theory explains how the mother-child relationship influences the child's development." Explains that children who suffer separation from their parents experience severe trauma even when these children are cared for by other people.
"Social Justice: Our values as social workers is to challenge and fight social injustices."
