On Aug. 15, 2012, Saudi Arabia’s national oil company, Saudi Aramco, was hit by one of the worst cyberattacks the world has ever seen. The result was a devastating wiping of data across 85% of Saudi Aramco’s Microsoft-based technology, affecting tens of thousands of workstations. A decade later, and the frequency and severity of cyberattacks have increased, while tech policy in most of the Western world remains in its infancy.
