EP #10: When Desire Becomes a Diagnosis

Discernment, Sexual Healing & the Pathologizing of Natural Expression

“Oppression repackages itself.  Over and over.
Sometimes it even comes dressed as empowerment.”

There’s a particular kind of discomfort that shows up before you have language.

You see a post, or hear a teacher, or enter a space that calls itself healing.
And something in your body quietly says: …no.

Here, we don’t automatically say that’s your wounding, or fear, or resistance to growth.
It’s quite possible it’s you recognizing that Truth got distorted somewhere.

In this episode of Gutter Wisdom, Priestess Francesca is joined again by Brittany Wittig for the first conversation in a new three-part series examining discernment inside modern sexuality and healing culture.

Using examples pulled directly from online erotic and spiritual spaces (ekehm new age IG), they audit a pattern that hides in plain sight: the tendency to take a personal revelation… and turn it into universal doctrine.

Together they explore how sexuality becomes vulnerable to the same mechanisms that appear everywhere else in culture:  pathologizing natural expression, manufacturing problems, and positioning authority as the solution.

This conversation is for anyone who has ever:

felt repulsed by healing language but couldn’t explain why,
wondered if their body was “doing sexuality wrong,”
felt pressured to interpret desire through someone else’s framework,
or sensed that liberation was starting to sound suspiciously like compliance.

In This Episode

Why repulsion can be a form of discernment
How oppression repackages itself inside healing spaces
The danger of turning subjective experience into universal truth
Why pathologizing sexuality creates dependence on authority
The difference between erotic revelation and erotic doctrine
How healing culture accidentally teaches people to distrust themselves
Why “how you sex is how you live” gets distorted so easily
What sexual expression actually reveals (and what it doesn’t)
The hidden violence of assigning meaning to someone else’s body
Why your erotic expression doesn’t need to be fixed to be informative
