This past January, I was forced to quarantine for 14 days upon my arrival in Vietnam. It was in the Wyndham Garden maximum security facility near downtown Hanoi.
Don't worry, everything was fine. I had a balcony after all, so I was able to breathe in some fresh air.
I was rudely interrogated by the hotel staff and threatened with deportation to the local army camp when I dared step out of my room to try and get some exercise walking in the hallway (https://click.mlsend.com/link/c/YT0xNjU4MzQwMzAwMzIzNTU5MTI1JmM9eDJpMyZlPTExMjQ3ODE1JmI9NTY3NDkwMDEyJmQ9ZTRuOXIwbg==.RF3kXrMFWwM5uGHPYn5rK2ENM2yWw_i-YsJNtNzWW6I (which my wife Sana and I discussed on our hobby podcast)).
But I had a balcony, so everything was all good.
As silly as it was, there was one good thing that came out of it. That would be the name of the business I currently operate. For awhile I used the name Beatin' Path Media. It was fine, nothing wrong with it. It had a cool feel to it. But it just didn't resonate with me on a deep level.
So when the CPA I work with asked me what business name should he put down while forming the LLC, I told him to hold off on that other name (Beatin' Path).
I thought about the real commitment that Sana and I had shown to get to where we were (and are). We had just spent 6 months apart, we had gone through a crazy process to become legally married in Vietnam, we had just done the equivalent work of writing a novel to apply for her visa to live in the U.S.
I guess I had the word "commitment" on my mind, because only two people who are really committed to each other and the relationship would be able to go through all that in their first year of marriage and live to tell about it.
So I told my CPA friend, "Committed Media, LLC". And two days later, it was registered in the state of Virginia by that name.
It's been a bit of a process to be sure. I've wavered as to what the business name should be, not to mention where to focus our efforts to achieve the big picture goals. Of course, defining big picture goals is a process in and of itself.
But there it is. And it's got some built-in accountability. I mean, if I were to quit a business named Committed Media and try to move on to something else, it shows I've got some commitment issues of my own.

P.S. I am currently searching for a new host for the Trumpet Dynamics podcast. I love trumpet, and hosting it, but just cannot devote the necessary time, energy and bandwidth to do it properly. I don't want to just give it up, so if you know someone who might be interested in hosting it, send them https://click.mlsend.com/link/c/YT0xNjU4MzQwMzAwMzIzNTU5MTI1JmM9eDJpMyZlPTExMjQ3ODE1JmI9NTY3NDkwMDE4JmQ9ejRrM203Yg==.T8D4nro80GofB7mn3WHLicmoshSmqR6Yvvp82nRZH8Q (this press release) which contains info about the gig and instructions on how to apply. Applicants need to be really committed to it, not just interested.
