Idaho Weather 3/8 Midday - Wind Advisory

Listen Later

Good afternoon. Idaho. I'm Matt Mullins.
Spring forward tonight, folks. Clocks jump ahead one hour at 2 A.M. and with the spring equinox just 12 days out, we're gaining daylight fast. Sunrise hits 8:10 this morning, sunset at 7:43 tonight.
Step outside right now and you're feeling 54 degrees. That mild start? It's not sticking around.
Down in the Treasure Valley, sunshine owns the day. Boise climbs to 66 degrees with light south winds around 5 miles an hour. Perfect weather for getting outside before the week shifts gears.
Eastern Idaho runs cooler at 56 degrees, but breezy southwest winds pick up to 16 to 21 miles an hour with gusts hitting 33. If you're driving something tall, those cross winds will push you around.
Northern Idaho? That's where the action is. Rain likely today with a 70 percent chance, peaking around 3 P.M. Temperatures reach 53 degrees before tumbling this afternoon. Southwest winds gust to 32 miles an hour.
Tonight, a cold front drops south. The Valley cools to 41 degrees under partly cloudy skies. Eastern Idaho dips to 40 degrees with gusty winds continuing. Northern Idaho plunges to 31 degrees with rain mixing to snow after 11 P.M. Monday brings cooler conditions statewide. The Valley reaches only 52 degrees under partly sunny skies. Eastern Idaho tops out at 54 degrees with southwest winds roaring to 15 to 29 miles an hour — gusts could hit 44. Northern Idaho sees snow likely after 8 A.M., with highs near 40 degrees.
Tuesday stays cool behind the front, with highs in the low 40s and gusty winds continuing. Wednesday warms back into the mid 50s. Thursday and Friday bring mild 60s to the Valley, but northern mountains see persistent rain and snow chances. Winds remain elevated all week.
Don't forget to set those clocks forward tonight. You'll lose an hour of sleep but gain an hour of evening daylight.
See you this evening.
