Welcome to the Synap2it Toolbox, we’re so glad you found us. We are here to provide families like you with tools to give your students an edge on their learning, because when students connect to learning, everyone wins.

Today we are talking about the program we use at our learning development center.

At Synap2it we use a program called the Structure of Intellect (or SOI). It has been used in more than 500 schools and clinics in the last 60 years. We believe the key to remediating learning challenges is to know why the challenge is occurring and to have a systematic program in place for eliminating the cause.

SOI is a system of assessments and trainings. We equip people with the necessary intellectual skills to learn subject matter, do analytical thinking, become more creative, and learn how to learn.

We also screen for sensory integration or visual skill difficulties to see if there is a physical problem that may interfere with that student's learning.
i.e., sensory integration and visual skills-- not just visual acuity but those functional skills necessary for efficiency and stamina for learning!

As you can tell, we are not a typical tutoring center in the strict sense of the word. Typical tutoring focuses on what the student was unable to do in class, reteaches it, in order to get through the next test, semester, or grade level. If a student just needs more reinforcement, more 1:1 instruction, or a quieter environment, tutoring works.

Great precision is required in training concepts rather content (or curriculum). In addition to the physical skills it is necessary to train the underlying content knowledge that go into the makeup of curriculum in order for learning to occur. This takes time because it requires that the physical readiness to learn as well as assuring that conceptual areas are in place for true learning to occur.
